Our Proven Executive Resume Writing Process Makes It Easy for Executives

The Five Strengths executive resume strategy is a proven one—we have worked with hundreds of executives and executives in career transition. Whether you are responding to a prime job posting or impressing an executive board, we know how to identify your strengths and create a unique, targeted package of documents that promotes you better than you can do alone.

This is the foundation of our one-on-one connection and your career success. Our in-depth executive resume writing process elicits the best information about your personality, successes, capabilities, dreams, and career aspirations. We take the responsibility of learning about you very seriously, and we are confident that we can do this only through a careful one-on-one analysis of your strengths and abilities. Over the course of multiple conversations, each one to two hours, prepare to learn about yourself, develop a personal relationship with your resume writer, and have a good time doing it. Uniformly, our clients report that the Career Consultation process is enlightening and fun, so expect to work hard and uncover aspects of your career history that promote your experience and accomplishments over that of the competition.

Initially, we’ll introduce ourselves and determine the best resume strategy your needs:

The Gold Strategy

We’ll the Career Inventory conversation which will take about 2 hours. I’ll ask you dozens of questions about your experience, background, and what makes you ideal for the roles you’ve targeted. During this call, I’ll take pages and pages of notes, which will form the basis for your resume and, ultimately, your cover letter suite and LinkedIn profile.

From the time of that Career Inventory conversation, it will take me 5 business days to turn around the first draft of your executive resume. I’ll call you to let you know it’s in your inbox, and I’ll send you some brief instructions about how to think about the revision process. We’ll go through as many revisions as you could request to ensure that you are 100% satisfied that your resume represents you in every possible way.

Once we complete your resume I’ll write your LinkedIn profile. I’ll write your profile in Word, in a table that is easy to navigate, with the field names on the left and your custom-crafted profile content on the right. We’ll go through a similar but usually much faster editorial process, and you should have this within a few days.

The Silver and Bronze Strategy

If you’re a busy executive and don’t have 2 hours to commit during a typical business day, then the Silver (or Bronze) strategy. This is an asynchronous, online strategy, by which you’ll complete 14 lessons. You’ll receive a daily reminder for each of those lessons, so you can follow a one-per-day accountability strategy. However, if you want to take a day, week, month, or more, the timeline is completely up to you. Once you do complete all of these strategic lessons, I’ll complete your resume within 5-10 business days, and we’ll go through as many revisions as you might require. If you’ve chosen (or upgraded to) the Silver strategy, I’ll write your LinkedIn profile at that time as well.

Not sure which resume strategy is best for you?

Decide the best career portfolio option for you:

1.       I give my best answers a. Out loud and off the cuff b. On paper, when I have time to think about what I need to say
2.       I know a ___ about my career accomplishments a. A great deal. I’m sure I can talk about my career accomplishments with ease. b. A little. I’m not really sure how to talk about my accomplishments.
3.       I prefer a. Describing my experiences to someone else b. Writing about my experiences, so I can prepare my thoughts
4.       I need my resume a. In 2-3+ weeks b. As soon as possible (<2 weeks)
5.       I prefer a. A great deal of accountability and partnership b. To work on my own, knowing I’ll get the work done on time.

Give yourself 0 for each “a” answer and 1 point for each “b” answer. If you scored 3 or more, then the Bronze or Silver options might be best for you. If you scored less than 2, consider the Gold option.
